dining room changes ~

Over the past couple of years, I have slowly but surely been taking my home decor in the direction of french farmhouse with a modern touch here and there.  I want that farmhouse look with feminine and modern undertones.  I also want very little color.  Sometimes I veer off my design path and try colorful things around my house and in the end, I don't like it for very long.  I live with it for a while, but then it bores me.  The classic look of muted tones, white, and farmhouse never bores me.  It just feels right and comfortable to us.

I have added a few things to my dining room recently, so I thought I would share how it's all coming together.

New rug from Garden Ridge, just $100.  It is not the highest quality, but it is exactly what I wanted and online, I was going to spend closer to $1000.  Rugs get trashed in our house because we have pets, so it just doesn't make sense to spend that kind of money on a rug.  This rug is soft grey and bright white in a trellis design.

 I am hoping those wrinkles work themselves out over time.  I also added the two french chairs on each end of table.  I used to have metal industrial chairs there which I loved, but I parted with them when I found these at TJ Maxx the day after Christmas.  I used my Christmas money to purchase them.  {thanks Carol and Alex!}

I have ALWAYS wanted a hutch for my dining room.  But I had never found the perfect one.  My criteria were:  vintage, pine, farmhouse style, storage, some open shelving, and tall.  As you can imagine, this was not an easy search.  But not too long ago, this beauty landed in my dining room.

I could not be happier!  It is everything I wanted!  Actually, more.  It has cubbies!

It was delivered a couple weeks ago, so I have been playing around with it since then.  Adding things, taking things away.  I knew it would house some of my ironstone and white dishes.  I absolutely love how the white looks against the raw pine.

The bottom half has three openings and I wanted to find large greywashed baskets to set inside there.  No luck at Hobby Lobby or Michaels, but I found these at Garden Ridge yesterday, just $15 each.  I'm sure they will eventually be used for storage of some sort.

Elsewhere in the room, I haven't done much.  I still have my favorite ruffled curtains from Big Lots and family heirlooms on display.

I decided to switch from tea lites to fresh white tulips for Spring in my antique bottle carrier centerpiece.  I placed a huge antique mirror under it.

Another new addition to the room is this vintage wine crate from France!  LOVE.  This treasure came from my friend Janet of Open Market Style.  Janet is the best picker ever..........she finds chippy, shabby, french style goods like no other!  I was honored when she said I could buy this from her.  I added some faux lavender and placed it on top of the hutch.

So that's what I've been up to around home.  I have a few other things I'm looking for to help complete my french farmhouse look throughout my home.  I love that the search is always on looking for the perfect additions!

Rural Society Antique and Garden Show ~

If you are looking for something fun and relaxing to do this weekend around the Central Ohio area, I've got just the thing!

The Rural Society Antique and Garden Show's Spring Sale is this weekend in Mt. Vernon, Ohio!

The show's setting is a picturesque farmground owned by Page and Greg Price.  There's barns and tents filled with the antique wares and farm goods of approximately 30 talented vendors.  You'll find plants and gardening supplies.  You'll be greeted by peacocks and lambs and dogs.

You can see sneak peek photos from the various vendors by liking their Facebook Page.

My friend Shannon of Vintage Restyled will be set up there.  Check out this sneak peek of everything she's been preparing for this twice a year show!  I can't wait to see it all displayed!

It's sure to be a fun little road trip!

build your own birch banner ~

A fan favorite here at Georgie Emerson Vintage is our
"build your own birch banner".

These are locally cut using a laser machine.  We carry each letter of the alphabet as well as triangle flags and pennant style flags.

We recently added ampersands to the mix..............

Here is an example of a custom banner I just completed for an upcoming wedding..........

Here is another example of one that would be perfect for a birthday.........WISH!

You can get so creative with these!  I've had customers paint them and decoupage them.  The possibilities are endless!

I am happy to take custom orders on these, just let me know!

Moonlight Market~

Our second Moonlight Market is taking place this Thursday!

April 25
5pm - 9pm

Several local small businesses are participating in the Shop Hop offering sweet treats, special sales and giveaways!

We have been busy busy busy getting Georgie Emerson Vintage all spiffied up for the evening with new merchandise and displays.  Literally, every square inch of the place has received some love!

I thought I'd share some pics to give you all a little sneak peek of our French Flea Market theme starting with the front window...............

This dresser has been made over with homemade chalk paint in such a pretty bluish green color with mismatched frenchie knobs and heavy distressing.  Painted by my talented friend Jodie, I am just loving it!

Mick made these awesome bird cage chandeliers for the window.............

At the Moonlight Markets, we like to invite talented small business owners to be spotlighted, kind of like a trunk show if you will.  I asked my dear little friend Janet of Open Market Style to join the fun as my feature vendor.  Janet's style is shabby french farmhouse and this girl never disappoints with her displays and talents...........here's a peek at some of her wares.........

Just a few more pics from around the store........

This messenger bag was made by Beth of Bellom Design Co.  along with the pillows you'll see below!  Love her stuff, love her style!!

I will still be busy working on some finishing touches tomorrow and Thursday.  So the shop will be closed until Thursday at 5pm so we can finish getting ready!

my lately ~

Aside from painting everything in sight to be prepared for our Moonlight Market event next Thursday, I've been working on a few personal things lately too.

A few weeks back, a fellow vendor stopped in to my shop to drop off flyers for a sale he was having, and of course we got to chatting about our recent finds.  He happened to show me this photo on his phone...........

which nearly caused me to break my lower jaw when it hit the floor!

I mean, I was so excited when I saw this beauty.  I have secretly been searching for the perfect pine hutch for my dining room for a while now.  And all of a sudden, out of nowhere, there it was staring at me from this little phone screen!

Lucky for me, he was willing to sell it to me as long as I agreed to let him use it for display at this sale.  No problem, I can wait another few weeks I thought to myself.

But you know what, that wait was hard!!

But she arrived yesterday and I've been playing around with styling her in every free minute of time that I've had, which quite honestly, has not been much.  But I'm making a little progress here and there..........

I am filling her with ironstone and other white dishes.........I just love the look of the white contrasted against the natural pine wood.  This thing is nowhere close to being finished but I'm having fun playing around with it in my spare minutes here and there.

book page dress form ~

About a week ago, I saw a tutorial on My Sweet Savannah where she made over an ugly dress form into a book page wonder!  I had this old girl laying in the garage gathering even more dirt than she already had accumulated over her sorry little life..............

not sure why that dirt has accumulated primarily on her boobies either!

She had blown over in the garage and was laying on the floor in an even more sorry state than when I rescued her from a retail salvage warehouse.  I actually felt bad for her!

But no longer!  She has been given new life!

yes, believe it or not, that is the same dress form!  You can swing over to My Sweet Savannah to see how you can create this too!

She will be making her debut at the new Moonlight Market on Thursday, April 25th!  And she'll be sporting a whole new assortment of Beth Quinn jewelry!
